Iran’s ‘I Won’t Remain Alone’ to head to Sapporo filmfest

The 2021 edition of the Sapporo International Short Film Festival in Japan has been set to screen Iranian documentary ‘I Won’t Remain Alone’.

Made by Yasser Talebi during five years, the documentary follows the story of Sorayya and Seyyed-Jalal, an underprivileged old couple who live in a distant village in the north of Iran.

‘I Won’t Remain Alone’ paints pictures of forgiveness, love, humanity and immortality.

Also taking part in the Mammoth Lakes Film Festival in the US and the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy, the documentary was shown at the Regina International Film Festival & Awards in Canada, the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in Japan and the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival in Greece.

‘I Won’t Remain Alone’ won the best documentary on survival of indigenous peoples at the Parnu International Documentary Film Festival in Estonia.

The Sapporo International Short Film Festival is one of Japan and Asia’s largest and most respected events to showcase short form cinema.

The festival provides an opportunity for filmmakers to expose their works to large audiences and to submit them for appraisal by high profile international jury members.

The 16th edition of the Japanese event will take place in the city of Sapporo on October 13-November 30, 2021.

The other representatives of Iran at this edition of the Japanese event are ‘Three Meters and a Few Centimeters’, ‘The Kites’, and ‘Nightly Whispers’.
